Need some assistance.

That's obvious.

I need assistance on many, many levels. I need many types of assistance.

But that's not what you're here to help me with.

I am leaving in two days for Stitches East. Have I mentioned that before? I have? Oh.

Well, how about one more time for good measure: Me, Stitches, Booth 239, enough said.

What I need from you is assistance in remembering all the things I've forgotten. Aside from yarn, what should I be bringing? For some reason, I keep thinking that I need tape. Lots and lots of tape. Tape is useful in times of crisis.

I hope there's no crisis about to befall me.

So, let's say you don't know me from Adam, you stop by my booth, you see the pretty yarn, you see my smiling face, what else would you be wanting? What would make you think, "They should really have..."

I know it would be great if we had a huge selection of books and whatnot. That can't happen in the next 24 hours. Plus, our booth is really about yarn. And there are huge book vendors who do nothing but books. I'm sure I will be stopping by. I have a serious knitting book weakness.

I know it would be great if we had a huge selection of FREE yarn. That would be really great.

Also not likely, though. Sorry about that one.

Should I bring our patterns? Should I bring dyeing kits? Should I make pattern and yarn kits? Should I bring lots of business cards? Should I bring a colorway catalog in a three ring binder? Should I bring chocolate? Should I bring tape? Should I bring samples of our other yarn bases that we won't be featuring? Should I bring postcards? Should I bring...what? WHAT IS IT THAT I SHOULD BRING?

OK, those are the first things I need help with.

Here's the next thing I need help with:

If there is ONE colorway that I should bring, one colorway that you think is really appealing and splendiferous, what would it be? I have many dyed up, but I want to be sure I have what people are looking for.

Does anyone get the feeling that I should have done this just a touch sooner in the process?

Me too.

But it is what it is. It's 5:52 am, and I'm heading down to the shop. I've dyed over 100lbs of yarn this week, I can do a little more to make sure I have your favorite.

So, that's the assistance I need. Tell me:

1. What I'm forgetting.

2. What you would like to see if you were a customer

3. What one colorway I should be sure to remember

Please help an old Yarnista out! :)

1. What I’m forgetting: comfortable shoes. You will be surprised how much your feet will hurt. Wear your favorite 3IG handknit socks. That always sells things more. (Plus, I always look to see what knitted item the seller is wearing. ::hint hint::)

2. What you would like to see if you were a customer: a credit card machine. You are first on my list to hit. So I may use my entire budget with you. Mini skeins of different yarn weights to knit up at home. Just to be able to fondle at my leisure. Lots of yarn. Did I say yarn? I meant to say LOTS of yarn. Maybe a dyeing kit as I am so impressed with yours that I think I just have to have what you do so I can be cool like you.

3. What one colorway I should be sure to remember: ALL? There isn't a colorway I don't like. The newest two will definitely be coming home with me as they are calling my name if they will be available in a sock weight or worsted weight. I am sure I can come up with something for them. Otherwise, any. (Though this sounds bad, but I say NO to the sock club exclusives. I like being the only one with them. They are suppose to be exclusive, right?)

The one thing I don't think anyone has mentioned: maybe a yarn swift/winder? I have a winder & set of tinker toys (aka my swift, lol) to make my own beautiful cakes of yarn now, but before I did it was SOOoooo nice to have it wound for me so it was all ready to go. If you have a nice portable system that would probably be great.

And all time favorite colorway? Hands down, Quinn. And Fiona is my second favorite. Can you tell I have girls?

I have a pair of longies in your siofra colorway almost done (crocheted, not knitted) and they are turning out beautifully. I will bring them on Saturday to show off!

And that brings me to my last suggestion... bring some finished projects made with your beautiful colorways.

See you Saturday!

Probably too late for this but I've been sans internet AGAIN and just had a cable replaced so hoping to be internet heavy for a long time to come.

FAVORITE COLOR: Kettle dyed Keene from ages ago. Still love the shorties I made for VW with them. They're just a bit to small now.

Also love the ALICE color that a lovely person just sent me- with the bright pink complementary color it's great but other complimentary colors would be good to see, too.

CAMERA- don't forget as you want to do a story on this blog about your great fun. If you want to use people's pictures, take a release form for them to sign.

EXTRA BATTERIES- for camera specifically andfor anything with batteries. You could probably even sell batteries. heh

EXTRA STORAGE- for pictures on camera.

YES TO THESE-
"Should I bring our patterns?
Should I bring dyeing kits?
Should I make pattern and yarn kits?
Should I bring lots of business cards? [LOTS AND LOTS]
Should I bring a colorway catalog in a three ring binder? [I WOULD LOVE THIS]
Should I bring chocolate? [Yarn is more exciting than chocolate.]
Should I bring tape?
Should I bring samples of our other yarn bases that we won’t be featuring?
Should I bring postcards?"

LOTS OF ORDER FORMS- esp. for those custom colors.

PRICE LISTS you can give out.

Good luck, Sharon!! I bet this is a huge turning point for your sisters, Katie, and you. :-))

P. S. Just thought, chocolate business cards with a paper business card would be fun.

I love magnetic business cards. I can stick them on the side of the fridge and know where they are at all times, and they don't blow away or fall someplace.

P. P. S. Note paper for people- a ream of paper or two and if cut in half it would be nice. I love to take notes and some paper sitting around would be very nice.

I would have the color catalog, or two, available at all times. I'm shy and it can be difficult for me to ask for things and this way, I'd be able to look at it without my anxiety getting in the way. Maybe attach a chain that can be anchored some place, even just a hole in the top of the binder, a small link or other chain of some kind and the other end wrapped around a table or chair leg.

Also, business cards should be left out for people to take willy nilly. Yes, it may use more cards but those little cards do a lot.

Again, price list to peruse at leisure.

List of people's Ravelry names along side their "real" names. You may forget things like this in the moment.

I missed out on telling you before you left but maybe next time.

You mentioned a book vendor that has knitting books...well why not coordinate with them. Ask if you can place some yarn or your business cards with table # near the knitting books. Than ask in return if you can place a few of their knitting books in your booth and a business card with table # to state where they can purchase the book.
