Nine things you didn't know about me.

1. I really really loathe meatloaf and meatballs. There's something about ground meat mixed with other weird items like eggs and breadcrumbs that makes my skin crawl.

2. I have a thing for celebrity gossip. Don't mess with my People magazine!

3. Due to the fact that I practically have amber eyes and sparkle in the sunlight like the Cullen vampires, a beach vacation is not my idea of a good time. But I love the water and enjoy swimming.

4. I always wait until the last possible second to wash my hair. I need at least a full day of disgustingness to convince me that washing it is necessary. I have always been this way. But I love the water and enjoy swimming.

5. Every time I have ever gotten a manicure I have regretted it. The polish either started peeling or chipping off immediately, or it hurt when they cut my cuticles. I got a French manicure the day before my wedding and it was already chipping by the morning of my wedding. Why? WHY? Do I have an anti-polish enzyme on my nails? Am I freakishly clumsy?

6. Whenever the server clears my plate at a restaurant, I feel a pang of sympathy. I've never been a server, but carrying away other people's dirty dishes and congealed food sounds miserable. Consequently, I am a very good tipper.

7. I have a thing about doing things correctly. If it's going to be done, I want it done correctly. I hate to admit this, but I went to a concert recently where the person was just singing and playing her guitar. She had a beautiful voice, but I couldn't take my eyes off her terrible guitar-playing form. She had her hand wrapped all the way around the neck, and was using her thumb -- her THUMB! -- to create some of the chords. A travesty of epic proportions. No matter that it sounded exactly the same, all I could see was my conservatory teacher rolling in his grave.

Except he's still alive. But if he were dead, he would have been aghast.

8. Wool socks or no socks. Cold enough for socks? Have to be wool. Too hot for wool? Then nothing.

9. I avoid most social situations. I'm not really shy, it's just that they make me uncomfortable. I like to be home. But I do like the water and enjoy swimming.

The last time I painted my nails, I spent some time researching to find the polish with the best staying power. It lasted two hours. I feel your pain! For a time, I was getting acrylic tips on my nails, and they would fall off. Yes, fall off in one piece. The nail technician thought I must secrete some weird oil that protects my nails from all those artificial chemicals. It's a nicer thought than that I'm just a klutz.

Eleven other things you may not have known about Sharon:
1. She could (and has) lived on cereal for long periods of time. Whenever she would come to visit, I made sure to buy Grape Nuts and/or Barbara's Peanut Butter Puffins.
2. She has really artistic, unique and beautiful handwriting.
3. She used to have her ears pierced in so many places we lost count.
4. She can't abide coffee that has sat on the coffeemaker warmer for over twenty minutes - it tastes burnt to her.
5. She is really tall.
6. She has a hard time taking a shower without music playing in the bathroom.
7. She has a quick wit and usually makes people laugh.
8. She wraps Christmas gifts like Martha Stewart and we feel guilty for having to rip into them.
9. She dreams about possible colorways.
10. She is a really wonderful daughter.
11. Her son told me last week that she doesn't currently own a bathing suit - but she does like the water and enjoys swimming.

Regarding #11 on Yarnista's mama's list: Of course she doesn't? Who wants to go shopping for a bathing suit? Not me! :-)

Oops, that was supposed to be "Of course she doesn't!" It wasn't a question. I guess I was just thinking ahead to my question.

Sharon, nail polish has always behaved the same way on my fingers. I don't know what the problem is, but I'm happy to work in a profession that gives me an excuse to have short, naked nails. I also feel bad for the servers who have to take away dirty dishes. I always cover my plate with my napkin so they don't have to look at it.

(Also? Coffee that's been on the burner for 20 minutes IS kind of gross.)

Verry interesting! I'm not sure whose entry is more revealing - Yarnista's or her mother's!!!!

I used to wait tables all through high school & college. It didn't bother me in the slightest to clean plates off of tables or look at people's half eaten whatever. It's not really any different from clearing the table at home. It is super hard work though, so keep up the good tipping.

The internet probably doesn't want to know this, but I am the same way about washing my hair. I just HATE doing it. Can't explain why.

I also enjoy the water and enjoy swimming.
