horse of a different color
Friday, November 11, 2011 at 4:54PM That's me. Always. This is not to be confused with black sheep of the family, which I suppose is also a fitting title.
The stories I could tell you about my offbeat childhood antics would probably bore you to tears, so I'll spare you the misery. But they did involve:
1. Saying things like, "Mom, I really want to write a report. What would you like me to write a report on? Oh, the history of Denmark? OK."
2. Saying things like, "Mom, I really want to join a literary council at the library. Can you drive me?"
3. Saying things like, "Mom, look. I made myself a Creative License on our Apple II computer and had it laminated at the print shop a mile away. See? It has my name on it."
Yes. Weirdo. Me.
So it's not a surprise that the colorway Horse of a Different Color is a delicious green, one of my favorite colors.

And it would make sense that Follow the Yellow Brick Road might be the instructions you'd give a Horse of a Different Color.

Both of these shop exclusive colorways are available now at The Loopy Ewe. Get them before they're gone.
And if you'll permit me just a tiny bit of self indulgent mama-ing, here's Pippi Longstocking after a long (cold!) night Trick-or-Treating:

Super Girl has more energy than a nuclear reactor. Her meltdowns are slightly less catastrophic, and she's also much, much cuter.

And Gandalf the Wizard refused to be photographed. He actually held up his staff and said, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS."
I would expect nothing less.

That's all the news that's fit to print from my neck of the (great north) woods. How's the weather where you are?

It is not snowing here. It is snowing lots of places around us, but it is not snowing and I will take that to the bank.
Your posts always give me a smile, as do your yarns. I just want to hug your kids they are so cute. Love the Wizard of Oz named yarn!
Your kids are just flat out adorable, as are you! This morning it is chilly, we actually had our first hard frost of the season, and it is dry - which makes me feel hopeful. According to the Farmer's Almanac "If St. Martin's Day (Nov. 11) is dry and cold, the winter will not be long lasting." That would please me very much! We may not live in the American Siberia like you do, but it sure felt like it the past two winters here in the lower Midwest, near one of the other Great Lakes (Michigan)!
How is our favorite HorseDog? And we have yet to meet the newest four-legged member of the Yarnista family (hint hint).
I knew right away from her picture that she went as Pippi Longstocking--one of my all time favorite books!
Genius. Everyone looks adorable, but your young man wins the title for that!
So do you - those yarns are gorgeous!! I have no idea how you come up with myriad combinations like that. I know they abound on earth, but I could never do it right.
When my mom asked me what I wanted for my 12th birthday, I said, "A hysterectomy." (To her credit, my mom replied, "Let's talk about that again when you're 13." In her great wisdom, she knew I'd have forgotten by then.)
Yes. Weirdo. Me, too.
It's nice to read that I'm not the only weirdo running around. I used to play school with my toys. I know, it's not odd in and of itself but when you add in the actual testing, report cards and subsequent parent teacher conferences... well, I was entertained! Of course, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew, my answer was always "Dopey"... in some ways, it came true... lol.
Now about Pippi's pigtails... how did you do that?!?! Hobbit would love it.
Amy, I made a wire headband and braided her hair around it. :)
