whew.

I have finally finished this adorable, but labor intensive, sweater for baby Shamrock.

I do love the way it looks.

But I did not love knitting it, on size 2 needles with sock yarn. I found the pattern...lacking. I made many changes as I knit.

The pattern called for applied I-cord around the entire perimeter. I would sooner stab out my eyeballs. So I picked up and knit a garter border.

When I finished it, my husband examined the underarms, looking to squeeze in a friendly jab of some kind.

Instead, he quietly looked the sweater over and said, "This turned out really nicely."

So there. Mr. Yarnista approved. He loves to be called that. Be sure to do it if you ever meet him.

I was so happy to finish it that I wasted no time at all starting my next project, which y'all helped me choose.

I bought In Threes and scavenged the studio for some yarn. I located some Glenhaven Cashmerino Worsted in Candyland.

It is really just awful to scavenge for cashmere. Pity me.

Thankfully, this pattern is much more artfully engineered, and here's what I accomplished in an evening of reality TV:

I can see why so many of you have made this pattern -- it's highly satisfying to make such efficient progress.

A few more projects like this, and I might get back on track with my goal of making 25 baby things before Shamrock arrives.

I have less than 60 days left.

My next project will be some baby pants, most likely a pair of Wonder Pants:

So now I need help selecting the perfect colorway.

I've narrowed it down to Petit Fours:

Titania:

Rosewood:

Or Forest Primeval:

I love that your petit fours listing said "petit fours, duh" because that is exactly what I thought when I saw it!

Congrats on finishing the adorable sock yarn sweater, especially since the pattern was a bit annoying. I love how candyland is working up in the new sweater that you are making. It is simply gorgeous!

Forest Primeval coordinates with the sweater in progress. If you want an outfit go with that.

If you want classic girl colors go with Petit Fours.

A vote for a touch of Shakespeare ;)

The sock yarn cardi turned out beautiful - I love your garter stitch mod. Looks lovely. In Threes is coming along swimmingly!! Such a lucky baby is Baby Shamrock!

You do such beautiful things with fibre on & off the needles!

I love Titania!

Oh my, I need to knit an In Threes (in Forest Primeval!) but all my nieces and nephews are having boys! One more pair of twins cooking for this year's crop of babies - gender not yet known. Maybe there will be a girl. Keeping fingers and toes crossed.

I think the sweater you finished for *my* granddaughter is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. I agree with your husband, even though I will never call him Mr. Yarnista. :)

So glad the underarms won't be a problem (snicker)

The sweater is adorable. It is worth every minute of pain and/or boredom. In Threes is looking really nice as well.

Say hi to Mr. Yarnista on behalf of all your readers! :-)

I had to buck the trend (and the apparent obvious vote) and go with Rosewood. It's so rich!

You inspired me to make In Threes for my niece! I am enjoying see all your projects come to life so much that I hope you can finish 25 projects in time also! I voted for Titania but it was so hard to pick one! Maybe my niece needs a pair of wonder pants also!

Petit Fours!!!! Pretty please!

In Threes will be magnificent -- and it will go with so many lovely colors of pants/leggings/dresses! I also love the new sweater (and am happy that I was not the knitter!). I voted for Petit Fours because (1) it seems to go best with this project; (2) the lovely sweater that you just finished seemed close(ish) in tone to Titania, (3) I think that Rosewood is a definite yes, but for something more sophisticated/less likely to be sat or crawled upon, depending upon the size that you're making; and (4) Forest Primeval seems too wintry right now (which just shows that I am (a) short-sighted, (b) not a recent resident of Duluth, and (c) affected by the order in which the yarns were listed). Happy knitting!

That sweater turned out awesome! What's the pattern? I know you were reluctant to name it because of the issues... If you aren't super busy could you email the name to me?

I HAVE to put in a plug for Titania - I think it's very likely to look good with the coloring that baby Yarnista is likely to have.

Victoria, WHY am I NOT surprised about your choice!!!

Yay for you and Baby Shamrock that the sock yarn sweater is done,it looks so cute! I ADORE your In Threes, love, love, love that colorway! All your choices of colorways for longies are awesome. One of each would be the coolest ha ha. What base are you going to be knitting them with? Sometimes that matters in how the colorway expresses itself. On Lindon I have all except Rosewood. Forest Primeval(one of my favorites) on Lindon has a slightly different color in the turquoise,it's more green-ish(but maybe that was just how my skein turned out!). Petit Fours and Titania on Lindon are gorgeous and I predict the Rosewood would look just lovely. Like I said they all are terrific colorways! All of them are favorites of mine and I own them on a few different bases and relish them!! You can't loose whichever you choose!

Oh I love the way your In Threes is turning out! How thrilled am I that I chose Candyland for my February POTK? Now I can't wait to knit it up...

And clearly the best choice is Forest Primeval - it's not Shakespeare, but Longfellow isn't far behind! Besides, you dyed up a skein for me back in January and I'm in love with that fabulous green splashed with turquoise. I think a pair of pants in it would be absolutely fantastic (does it come in my size?)! After that, I'd probably vote for Titania and then Petit Fours. I do love Rosewood, but for some reason I have a vision of that for a little handknit coat-dress...now, how sweet would that be? :)

Where is the option for one of each?
I voted for Forest Primeval, because if your name is Shamrock you definitely need green pants.

Sarah, JoNann, and I ALL vote for Petit Fours. Actually, Sarah and Nann just coo, so I'm interpretting that as a vote.
